God our Protector

God's timing is never ours.  One moment, something is taken away from us. I used to ask, "why?" a lot before.  Not anymore. Nowadays, I simply look for blessings.

The Lord has a better plan.  A blessing in disguise.  It no longer surprises me like it did before.  Why? Because I trust that His plan is what is best.  But first, we have to trust Him with all our hearts.

Earlier I was meditating on Psalm 91. What a reminder somewhere in my readings - a lovely psalm of protection...

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust." Vs. 1-2

His faithfulness goes before to deliver us in times of trouble, to support us, to empower us and give us the needed strength.  What else is there to ask from our God the protector?

The hymn that comes to my mind?   "Our God Our Help in Ages Past."   I know I've featured this hymn before, but because it's fitting for the moment's reflection, I'm going to sing silently the first verse:

Our God our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come.
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home."
