Lovely Scripture Passage from the Bible, "For you are precious and honoured in my eyes, and because I love you."
This lovely passage from the Bible's Old Testament, Isaiah 43:1-4, is one of the most beautiful and endearing words of assurance from God. It was addressed to the people of Israel but it might as well be to any of us who believe in him. Through these verses, let us reflect on his words, to inspire and comfort us in life's daily challenges.
"Fear not for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you on fire. For I am the Lord, your God, your Saviour. Since you are precious and honoured in my sight, and because I love you ..." ~ Isaiah 43: 1-4 ~
I've paraphrased it to speak to us in today's language. Meditating on what God said: "For you are precious and honoured, and I love you." What more can we ask? Indeed, "I shall not want" as the shepherd psalmist (Psalm 23) declares.
God says we are precious and honoured, and he loves us. What more can we implore? When we are in despair, hopeless, we can remind ourselves of his assurance - when we are afraid, when we dishonour him, when we hurt someone, when we are alone, when we are lonely. We just need to remember someone who sees our every move.
"For you are precious and honoured in my sight, and I love you."
